At the University of Stirling, we believe in the power of community, cultural exchange, and inclusion. That’s why we are excited to share about the International Food Night, hosted by the Institute of Aquaculture. A vibrant event in celebration of the culture diversity that make up our aquaculture community, bringing together students, staff, and alumni from all around the world to share their culinary traditions, connect with one another, and create lasting memories.

“It was a lovely evening with lovely people and amazing food.” Max Hall, MSc. Student
One of the highlights of the event was the sense of inclusivity and warmth that radiated throughout the room. It was truly lovely to see such a diverse group come together, a reminder of how food can be a unifying force, creating shared experiences and sparking conversations across generations. The master’s students found the evening to be amazing.
“I really loved the International Food Night because it was a nice way of meeting all sorts of different people involved within the Institute of Aquaculture, and a nice bonding experience with my fellow MSc students.” – Adriaan Hoevers, MSc. Student
Not only was the food incredible, but the event was also filled with laughter, fun, and a strong sense of community. The chance to mingle with both current students and faculty, sharing the joy of eating, and learning from one another was a powerful experience. It highlighted the spirit of inclusion and friendship that defines Stirling University. And to make the evening unforgettable, we also had some fun activities to keep the energy high! A coin throw for a bottle became the big hit, where participants tossed coins for a chance to win a fantastic prize, adding a playful twist to the night. In addition, there was a raffle with amazing prizes that kept everyone excited and engaged. These activities brought even more fun and camaraderie to the evening, making it a truly memorable event for all involved.
“I discover my hidden talent of being a good salesman. Food was good and I had a good time.”-Matt Yau, MSc. Student

The success of the International Food Night has left us inspired and eager to continue organizing events that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community. The EDI Committee is committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and welcomed, and we look forward to many more opportunities to come together and celebrate our unique cultures. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this event such a success whether you contributed a dish, volunteered your time, or simply attended to enjoy the food and company. Your participation was what made the event so special, and it is this sense of togetherness that makes Stirling University such an incredible place to be.
